Matthew Martin, PE, has joined Stantec as a principal and leader in the global design firm’s transportation practice in Virginia. Martin has extensive experience with complex urban planning and design, including highways, roadways, and multimodal systems in Northern Virginia, and across the state. Martin is based in Fairfax, VA.
Martin brings to Stantec 32+ years of experience working on a multitude of transportation projects for the Virginia Department of Transportation, particularly in the Northern Virginia District, and many of the local counties and municipalities in Virginia. As a result, he brings a keen understanding of political, residential, and business stakeholder challenges associated with transportation and improvement projects in this rapidly growing area. His diverse experience includes having active roles on major projects in Maryland, for MDOT Business Units, as well as the District of Columbia and West Virginia Departments of Transportation.
Martin holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Virginia Military Institute; is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia; and is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies where he served as the President for the Metropolitan Washington Chapter in 2015, and the American Society of Highway Engineers.
