Allan Myers Named 2017 Contractor of the Year

March 5, 2018

Allan Myers is proud to announce that the company has been named by ENR MidAtlantic, the leading publication for the engineering and construction industry, as its 2017 Contractor of the Year. The announcement featured the firm’s culture of safety, its family leadership, its community contributions, and company growth.   “We are incredibly honored that such an esteemed publication as ENR MidAtlantic has recognized our firm with this distinction. This honor directly reflects the work and contributions of our more than 2,000 employees,” said A. Ross Myers, Chairman and CEO, Allan Myers.

The publication cites the company’s strong safety record, including its “Home Safe Tonight” safety culture as a central reason for its selection as this year’s top firm.  Its 0.76 OSHA recordable rate is four times below the national average.

“The company traces that strong record to a safety campaign that focuses on its craft workers as its ‘backbone’ and says sending all of its workers home safe each night is the least it can do to show them ‘dignity and respect,” states the article.

With full-service operations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, transportation work represents 76% of the firm’s revenues. The number of asphalt plants it operates has increased to 16, up nearly 50% since 2014, including a new asphalt plant and office in Chesapeake, VA that will be on line by the end of 2017.   Myers’ approach as a family-owned business and its contributions to the community and developing future industry leaders were also highlighted by the publication as central to the company’s success to-date.   Several of Allan Myers’ projects were highlighted by the publication including the Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway joint venture in northern Virginia, the I-64 Segment II Design-Build Project in Virginia, and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport Runway Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

Myers Ranks No. 1 in the transportation sector of ENR MidAtlantic’s Top Contractor survey with $574.9 million in regional revenue and No. 20 on ENR’s Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractors list.
