VA Energy – Mineral Mining Regulations Review Process
The Department of Energy Mineral Mining Program, as required by Executive Order, has commenced the periodic review of three regulations that impact Aggregate Producers.
- Reclamation Regulation for Mineral Mining (4VAC 25-31) - Full Regulation
- Certification Requirements for Mineral Miners (4 VAC 25-35) - Full Regulation
- Safety & Health Requirements for Mineral Mining (4 VAC 25-40) - Full Regulation
The public comment period for all the above regulation reviews opens on April 24 and closes on May 15. Virginia Energy has stated they do not anticipate much change to any of the above regulations.
VTCA has scheduled virtual meetings on May 2, 2023, to discuss these regulations and if industry wants to submit comments during the public comment periods. At 10:00 AM we will discuss the Reclamation Permit and at 1:30 PM we will discuss the Miner Certification Requirements and Safety & Health Requirements.
