Local Government Spotlight: Greene County

Posted By: Peter Compher Member and Industry News,

Greene County is moving forward with the Route 670 Connector Project, a major transportation improvement that will create a new two-lane connection between Route 670 (Preddy Creek Road) and U.S. Route 29 (Seminole Trail). The project is designed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and provide better access along the growing Route 29 corridor.

Funded through Virginia's SMART SCALE program and delivered through the Local Assistance Program, the project will help ease traffic at the busy Matthew Mill Road/Cedar Grove Road intersection while supporting future residential and commercial growth in the Ruckersville area.

The project recently advanced into the design-build phase, reflecting Greene County's commitment to delivering critical transportation improvements efficiently. Once complete, the new roadway will improve connectivity, reduce travel delays, and enhance mobility for residents, businesses, and visitors.

The RFP will advertise on October 30, 2026.
