VTCA continues to build on its workforce development efforts through its partnership with the Virginia Association of Career and Technical Education Administrators (VACTEA), creating new opportunities to connect Virginia’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs with the aggregates and heavy construction industries.
On October 14, VTCA partnered with VACTEA and VTCA member firm Vulcan Materials Company to host a quarry tour for approximately 20 CTE administrators. The tour provided a firsthand look at the aggregates industry, highlighting its critical role in building and maintaining Virginia’s infrastructure as well as the diverse career opportunities available throughout the sector. By giving educators and administrators direct exposure to industry operations, the event helped strengthen their understanding of the pathways available to students interested in technical and skilled careers.
Through these efforts, VTCA is working to build long-term relationships with CTE programs and expand awareness of construction-related careers, helping develop the next generation workforce pipeline for Virginia’s heavy construction industry. VTCA encourages members seeking workforce development opportunities to engage with their local CTE programs and support student awareness of the rewarding careers available in the industry.
