ATCS Appoints Susan Shaw as Vice President of Major Program Development and Delivery

ATCS recently announced the appointment of Susan Shaw, PE, CCM, DBIA, as its Vice President of Major Program Development and Delivery. In this role, Shaw will provide valuable subject matter expertise to clients and project teams, guiding the development, delivery, and closeout of large-scale programs and projects, regardless of the delivery mechanism.

"Her extensive experience and proven track record in leading some of the largest highway projects in Northern Virginia will be invaluable to our clients. Shaw will be instrumental in pursuing significant client consultant programs, including General Engineering Consultants (GECs), Project-Specific, and Alternate Delivery projects.

"I am eager to share my experience as a [client owner], successfully delivering complex, multi-modal P3 and design-build projects while working alongside the talented ATCS team," said Shaw. "In addition to meeting the needs of our clients, I'm excited to engage and mentor the next generation of transportation professionals, a critical focus as we lay the foundation for delivering future transportation improvements."

Shaw brings more than 30 years of expertise in major program development. Prior to joining ATCS, she served as the head of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Megaprojects Office in Northern Virginia, overseeing projects valued at over $5 billion, including landmark projects such as the Express Lanes on I-66 Outside the Beltway, I-495, and I-95. Her journey also includes volunteering with the US Peace Corps in Thailand and a successful career as a design consultant. Shaw received AASHTO's Alfred E. Johnson Achievement Award in 2017, VDOT's Outstanding Achievement Award for leadership in 2022, and led the VDOT I-66 Outside the Beltway Team that received the Commissioner’s Outstanding Project Delivery Award in 2023.
