The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) has appointed Michele Stanley as its new president and CEO.

Stanley has been serving as interim CEO since October 2024, following the departure of Michael Johnson. Since joining NSSGA in 2015, she has held several leadership positions, including senior director of government affairs, vice president of government and regulatory affairs, and most recently, executive vice president and chief advocacy officer.

“As we embark on the next era of the association, Michele will steer NSSGA to achieve real results for members,” said Ted Baker II, 2025 NSSGA Chair and president of Blue Water Industries. “With her extensive advocacy experience, Capitol Hill connections, and industry insight, she is the perfect fit for the role.”

Stanley takes the helm at a pivotal time for the aggregates industry, as Congress debates tax reform and the reauthorization of the surface transportation bill – set to expire in 2026.

“From navigating the complexities of government affairs to charting the course for the association, I’m energized by the opportunity to build an even stronger future for our industry,” Stanley said.

With nearly 15 years of public policy experience, Stanley has been recognized multiple times on The Hill’s and the National Institute of Lobbying & Ethics’ top lobbyists lists. Before joining NSSGA, she worked with the National Asphalt Pavement Association and on Capitol Hill for Reps. Jim Nussle (R-Iowa) and Peter King (R-New York).

Originally from Iowa, Stanley holds a degree in political science and management from Luther College, along with certifications in PAC management (George Washington University) and organizational management (U.S. Chamber of Commerce).
