VDOT Announces New Assistant State Construction Engineer

VDOT has announced Ben Coaker, P.E., CCM as the new Assistant State Construction Engineer for Contracts. In this role Ben will oversee all efforts related to the advertisement, award and execution of construction and maintenance projects; as well as the Department’s prequalification program.

Ben has provided management and/or oversight for various Construction Division Sections since joining VDOT in 2018, including Value Engineering, Consultant CEI Services, Design/Build and Local Assistance. Prior to this, Ben worked in the private sector with a contractor as a Project Manager and as a consultant Bridge Engineer. Ben is a Certified Construction Manager with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond.
