Building Community Through Education: Carmeuse Partners with Middletown Elementary School

Being a good neighbor means more than operating safely and responsibly. It means building meaningful relationships and investing in the communities where we live and work.

Partnerships with local schools are an important part of that commitment. Through STEM initiatives, career days, scholarships, classroom activities, and educational visits, the aggregates industry helps students explore geology, environmental stewardship, construction, and the wide range of career opportunities available within the field.

By supporting education today, we help strengthen our communities, inspire future generations, and build relationships that can last for years to come. In late August, VTCA member Carmeuse launched a new partnership with Middletown Elementary School, beginning the relationship by hosting a barbecue lunch for the school’s teachers and staff.

Looking ahead, the Carmeuse team and Middletown Elementary educators will work together to create learning opportunities that connect classroom lessons with real-world quarry operations. Through hands-on experiences and educational resources, students will gain a better understanding of how modern quarries operate, the vital role they play in supporting infrastructure, and the industry's commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
