Changes Are Coming to VDOT University

Member and Industry News,

The Virginia Department of Transportation recently announced that work has begun to transition VDOT University, the agency’s online learning platform and training portal, into its cloud-based talent management suite, MyCareerConnect (MCC).

Today MCC provides the infrastructure for VDOT’s employee life cycle and helps the agency manage employment from recruitment to separation.

Scheduled to go live as early as fall 2026, the migration of VDOT University into the MCC platform will offer its more than 8,000 employees and nearly 15,000 external stakeholders across the Commonwealth a more-streamlined, intuitive experience with centralized access to courses, transcripts, certifications, and professional development tools.

Still in the early stages of development, many questions remain to be answered.  What is known is shared on the VDOT University Driven by Learning page at vdot.virginia.gov/drivenbylearning to help manage expectations as the agency moves from its current state to the future state of VDOT University.

To prepare for this transition, account holders should review and download their transcripts, certificates, and training history to ensure their records are accurate, complete and up-to-date.
