Pretty in Pink: Jenna Walker’s Road to Success

She Spec’d It Pink - And She Earned Every Bit of It

When John Walker talks about his daughter Jenna, there’s a familiar mix of pride, disbelief, and admiration in his voice. “She spec’d it pink,” he says. “And she earned every bit of it.”

At just 18 years old, Jenna Walker is already an owner‑operator for Walker Sand & Stone Inc., making her the third generation to step into the family’s long‑standing Virginia business. And she’s doing it behind the wheel of something impossible to miss: a hot‑pink Western Star 49X with a DD16 engine – a truck as bold and determined as she is.

A Legacy Built on Sand, Stone, and Grit

Walker Sand & Stone, headquartered in King George, VA, has been supplying masonry sand, aggregates, and landscaping materials across the region for more than 50 years. Founded by Lewis and Dorothy Walker, the company has remained a model of a traditional family business – one built on hard work, loyalty, and a deep respect for the craft.

Jenna grew up in the middle of it all. Trucks, loaders, equipment – they weren’t just part of the job; they were part of her childhood.

“It’s always what I wanted to do,” she says, her enthusiasm unmistakable.

Her father confirms it: “No shortcuts. She rode with every operator who would let her before she ever took the wheel herself. Then she started hauling. Real loads. Demanding jobs. Lowboy moves. Caterpillar equipment.”

By the time she turned 18, Jenna wasn’t just ready – she was prepared. The day after her birthday, she earned her CDL and hit the road.

The Pink Truck That Was Never Supposed to Happen

Walker Sand & Stone’s fleet is known for its sleek, uniform look: black Western Star trucks sourced through Excel Truck Group. So when Jenna began lobbying for a pink one, the answer was predictable.

“No,” John told her. “Our fleet is black.”

But Jenna is persistent – relentlessly so.

On a routine errand to the Western Star dealership, she stopped in to see their sales rep and began spec’ing out her dream truck anyway.

Weeks later, while John was meeting with Excel executives, they casually asked:

“So… do you want to go ahead and order the pink Western Star?”

That was the moment. Dad caved. The order was placed. And Jenna’s long‑held philosophy – “It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission” – proved itself once again.

A Truck With a Mission

The pink Western Star isn’t just a personal statement. It’s a platform.

Jenna is using her truck to raise breast cancer awareness and to support the Women in Trucking (WIT) organization. Her impact has already been recognized: WIT named her Member of the Month for May 2026, and both Western Star and Excel Truck Group plan to feature her and her truck in upcoming campaigns.

This fall, Jenna and her 49X will be showcased at the WIT 2026 Accelerate! Conference & Expo in Dallas, TX – a major stage for women shaping the future of transportation.

She’s also committed to using her visibility to bring more women into trucking and inspire the next generation of drivers.

A Young Leader With a Big Future

Jenna’s passion for the industry is unmistakable. Whether she’s talking about hauling, equipment, or the family business, she lights up – confident, capable, and clearly in her element.

Her father sees even more ahead for her.

“Jenna’s personality, enthusiasm, and ability to build relationships will take her far in the construction materials industry and beyond,” he says.

And he’s right. Jenna isn’t just following in the family footsteps – she’s carving her own path. With her drive, her work ethic, and her unmistakable pink Western Star, she’s already becoming a standout figure in trucking and construction materials.

This extraordinary young woman is destined for big things – and she may very well help reshape the industries she loves.
