VDOT Names New State Contract Engineer

VDOT has formally announced that James Swanson. P.E. has been selected as the Assistant State Construction Engineer – State Contract Engineer and began work with the Construction Division on May 11.

James is a graduate of The George Washington University with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He previously spent 8 years with the Department, most recently working with the Construction Division as the Statewide Construction Contracts Manager and State Specification Engineer. In these roles, he focused on internal process improvements, allowing multiple teams to realize efficient workflows. Before that, he served as Design Team Leader with the Richmond District Bridge office. He returns to the Department after spending the past year with VTCA member PRIME AE.
