VTCA Annual Meeting: Three Days of Insight, Leadership, and Networking
The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance's 2026 Annual Meeting brought transportation construction leaders from across the Commonwealth together June 18-20 at The Omni Homestead Resort for three days of education, networking, recognition, and collaboration. The meeting showcased the strength of Virginia's transportation construction industry, providing members with valuable opportunities to hear directly from industry leaders, engage with VDOT leadership, discuss emerging challenges, and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals and companies helping build Virginia's infrastructure. The event began Thursday with a Board of Directors meeting, followed by a VDOT leadership session that provided attendees with important updates on agency priorities, programs, and future initiatives. The afternoon also included recognition of recipients of the VTCA Contractor Safety Awards, highlighting companies that continue to demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace safety. One of the meeting's highlights was the First Timers and New Member Reception, which welcomed new participants and helped foster connections among members before the President's Reception. Throughout the event, attendees had numerous opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and develop new partnerships that support the industry's continued success.
Friday's program opened with the President's Breakfast Meeting, featuring economic insights from Steve Edwards, Head of Portfolio Construction at Morgan Stanley. His presentation provided valuable perspective on market conditions, economic trends, and factors influencing business decisions in today's environment. The morning continued with discussions focused on two of the most pressing issues facing the transportation construction industry. Attendees explored workforce development strategies aimed at attracting and retaining the next generation of industry professionals and heard an engaging discussion on federal policy impacts during "Is Washington Running Your Business?" featuring Rich Juliano of ARTBA and Mira Lezell of NSSGA. Beyond the educational sessions, members enjoyed optional networking activities including golf and axe throwing, creating additional opportunities to build relationships outside the meeting room. Saturday's program focused on industry achievements and future challenges. VTCA recognized recipients of its Aggregate Producer Safety and Reclamation Awards, honoring companies that continue to set high standards for safety and environmental stewardship. Attendees also heard from noted political analyst Dr. Bob Holsworth during his presentation, "Political Crosswinds: Trump, Virginia Politics, and the Business of Risks Ahead." His analysis provided valuable insight into the political and economic landscape shaping business decisions and infrastructure investment.
The meeting also featured a discussion on lessons learned through VTCA's Localities Engagement Framework, highlighting the Alliance's growing efforts to build stronger relationships with local governments and address emerging issues at the local level. During the Annual Business Meeting, members received a State of the Alliance update, discussed key industry issues, and helped shape the organization's priorities moving forward. The open member discussion reinforced VTCA's commitment to serving as the unified voice for Virginia's transportation construction industry. The event concluded with a reception and dinner that celebrated the accomplishments of the industry while providing one final opportunity for members to connect and strengthen relationships. The success of the 2026 Annual Meeting reflected the continued engagement and commitment of VTCA's membership.
