VDOT Establishes NEPA Website, Publishes NEPA Program Manual
VDOT’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Program Manual is now publicly available on VDOT’s website. The Manual consolidates direction and guidance provided by the Federal Highway Administration and VDOT into a single location that governs VDOT’s role in FHWA’s NEPA process. With the Manual now publicly available, several of VDOT’s Instructional and Informational Memoranda (I&IMs) will be sunset.
Complying with NEPA is a constantly evolving process, and the publication of the manual online is intended to support the flexibility, growth, and changes to the VDOT NEPA program, ultimately supporting statewide consistency. The online NEPA Program Manual will be regularly updated to reflect changes. VDOT encourages users to visit the website to reference the document rather than download a copy for future use. This will ensure you are always working from the latest version. The website will identify the updates, allowing easier tracking.
