Good to Know Changes Affecting VDOT Operations, Testing & Training

VDOT has made several announcements that will have operational, training, and compliance impacts for VTCA members. Here is a quick rundown:

VDOT Landscape Design Guidelines Open for Comment

VDOT has posted updated Landscape Design Guidelines for public comment. Members involved in roadway aesthetics, landscaping, environmental work, or design coordination may wish to review the document and provide feedback. Public comments can be made by emailing VDOTLDPublicComments@vdot.virginia.gov no later than June 7.

Revisions to VTM-135 for High Strength Bolting Components

VDOT has released Memorandum MD 484-26 outlining significant revisions to Virginia Test Method (VTM)-135, Field Rotational Capacity Test, for high strength bolting components. Contractors and suppliers involved with structural steel and bolting inspection/testing should review the revisions carefully. VDOT University Platform Transition Coming This Fall

VDOT has announced that VDOT University will migrate into the Department’s MyCareerConnect (MCC) talent management suite later this fall as part of the “Driven by Learning” initiative. Members using VDOT University for certifications or training are encouraged to review and update their account information now to help ensure records transfer correctly. Updates can now be made directly within the system, including email address, phone number, and employer information.
