VDOT Commissioner Announces Executive Leadership Team Changes

VDOT Commissioner Stephen C. Brich has announced updates to two key positions on the agency's Executive Leadership Team that member firms will want to note as they work with the agency on project and service delivery.

Acting Chief Deputy Commissioner. VDOT continues to fill the Chief Deputy Commissioner role through a five- to six-month rotation of District Engineers, giving each additional leadership experience within the agency. Salem District Engineer Ken King was the first to serve in the acting role and has since returned to his Salem post. Effective August 17, Culpeper District Engineer Sean Nelson stepped in as Acting Chief Deputy Commissioner, where he will support VDOT employees and the agency's public- and private-sector partners in delivering projects and services.

In recognizing King's tenure, the Commissioner noted his work advancing Administration initiatives, including executive orders on housing, and his efforts to reinstate the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program that was paused last fall—an issue of ongoing interest to VTCA members.

With Nelson on special assignment in the Central Office, Stacy Londrey will serve as Acting Culpeper District Engineer. Nelson and King will also coordinate the transition of District Administrator Committee (DAC) responsibilities.

Acting Chief of Maintenance and Operations. Anne Booker, who recently served as Acting Salem District Engineer, will become Acting Chief of Maintenance and Operations beginning August 31. Nelson will cover both the Chief Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Maintenance and Operations roles in the interim.

VTCA joins the Commissioner in thanking Ken King, Sean Nelson, Stacy Londrey, and Anne Booker for their flexibility and continued service to the agency.
